Those of you that are thinking about duplicate probably fall into
one of three categories: (1) Never played, (2) only played rubber
bridge, and (3) played duplicate a long time ago.
If you fall into (1) then you might start by considering one of the intro classes given
by the SBBC. Reading a book on bridge or checking out introductory
resources on the web are always options, but, find a way to incorporate
actual play in your learning plan. All study and no play makes for a very bored
bridge player.
If you are a (2) or (3) then browse through the links below and see if any
of them are helpful. The SBBC has classes for you too.
One strategy that you might consider is to come to the Bridge Center and "kibitz".
The means that you check with the director before the game and he/she will recommend a
player to sit beside and (quietly) observe what goes on. You see kibitzers all the time, all the way up to Nationals. It is a great way to learn. Just remember to watch and not comment.
